Virtual Business Show #011 – Multi-VA Practices

Lots of virtual assistants are starting up team pages on their sites where they show the members of their “virtual team”. This is often referred to as the Multi-VA Practice.  But could these VAs be opening themselves up to tax and oncost problems down the track? And what about the members of these ‘teams’? Turns out … potentially.

Tools referred to in the podcast:

The ATO’s Employee/Contractor Decision Tool

The ATO’s Superannuation Guarantee Eligibility Tool

  4. Hi Lyn,
Just wondering if you know how this all applies to offshore ‘team members’?
    Thanks.

  5. Hi Deb – everything I say in the podcast is the situation as it stands at the time of the podcast and in relation to Australians – so Aussie workers, subcontractors etc. The government continually moves the goalposts. The podcast applies only to Australian-based ‘team’ members as things stand now, under the current government, as at the date of the podcast. HTH!
