Podcasters’ Emporium is a how-to show for existing and aspiring podcasters. The purpose of the show is to help our community of podcasters create better sounding podcasts. We do this by demonstrating tips and techniques, and showcasing products and services that makes podcast creation more sophisticated and listenable.  Podcasters’ Emporium covers everything from technical production, and software use, through to hardware selection, marketing and community building.  Over the course of the show, our listeners will learn everything they need to create a great sounding, and well produced show, and some other things that will take their podcasting careers even further. The show represents a great opportunity to reach a unique niche listener demographic that may not be reached by any other show.

Host Bios

Our two hosts have a combined 10 years of experience in the podcasting arena, both starting before podcasting was even a mainstream word, these veterans have carved their way into the new media space and created a raft of successful Australian podcasts that are receiving recognition around the world.
 
Dave Gray is a veteran podcaster and has produced more than 200 hours of podcast content.  Formerly the host of the Global Geek Podcast on The Podcast Network, Dave Gray turned independent podcaster in 2008, and spun-off the Aussie Geek Podcast, a highly popular technology news show which frequently ranks amongst the top 50 technology podcasts in the iTunes store.  Dave also hosts a comedy program on the Lifestyle PodNetwork called Two Schooners, which he co-hosts with James Williams.  Dave has a passion for technology and marketing and is very knowledgeable about the ins-and-outs of podcasting and draws on his experience to share with others on the show. Dave is also an expert community builder with the drive and personality to build thriving positive communities around the shows he produces.
 
James Williams has a passion for podcasting. He has created more than 15 podcasts for the Lifestyle PodNetwork, and is actively involved in helping people create great new media content. In July 2008, he founded the Lifestyle PodNetwork, which is now Australia’s fastest growing independent new media content network.  The network provides free and premium content to a discerning audience, and the support of a vibrant podcasting community for its hosts.  James is also the founder of an downstream hosting service called PodNetwork Hosting, which holds the media content for the network and provides inexpensive podcast hosting solutions for podcasters.  James has a background in corporate communications and has worked with some of Australia’s largest corporate organisations.

The Podcasters’ Emporium podcast is distributed over major podcast portals including iTunes, Podcast Bunker, Podcast Alley and Podcast Pickle as well as a number of smaller directories.  The Podcasters’ Emporium podcast can also be streamed via the website at http://podcastersemporium.com
 
In late 2009 the first of a number of ‘masterclass’ live events will be run. These will be limited availability live podcasts, where podcasters’ can receive tuition in specific areas. These masterclasses will be highly sought-after and valuable to listeners, and will represent an excellent opportunity for brand association in conjunction with these events.

What kind of advertising and sponsorship options are available?

 
In Show Advertising: This is the most popular form of advertising.  Podcasters’ Emporium listeners will hear about your product or service near the beginning of the show or at the end of the show.  Mentions of your company can contain contact information such as a website or phone number.
 
Website button: In addition to promotion within the show, a button can be placed on our website linking to your website for the duration of the sponsorship period.  This button will be 125×125 pixels in size.
 
Website Skyscraper:  In addition to promotion within the show a large format skyscraper advertisement can be placed on our website, linking to your website for the duration of the sponsorship period. The advertisement may be in image format (JPG or GIF) or flash format, and will be 160×600 pixels or 120×600 pixels in size.
 
Text-based show notes advertising: An additional placement for your advertisement in the show notes, for the show you are sponsoring. This allows users with an RSS reader or a podcast client to see your advertisement even if they don’t go to our website. The format for this advertisement is written with a link to your website.
 
Traditional commercial: Traditional commercials for television or radio can be incorporated into our shows. This could be pre-existing or we can negotiate a rate for production with you.
 
Product review: Product reviews are available for sponsors who purchase advertising in two or more consecutive episodes of the Podcasters’ Emporium, for one month or more in duration.  This will include an in-depth hands-on review of your product with a phone-based interview of between 2-5 minutes.
 
Host endorsement: For a limited number of advertisers, the hosts may be prepared to endorse your product or service. This will only be possible for products and services on a limited basis at the complete discretion of the show hosts.
